The Big 4 Trail is a favorite for walking, hiking, and biking, offering a peaceful way to get fresh air while starting new year wellness goals. In addition to the Big 4, Boone County’s many parks and walking trails provide great options for a winter stroll surrounded by nature.

Luminary Walk in Zionsville – January 13

Experience the charm of winter evenings at the Luminary Walk in Zionsville. Held on January 13, 2026, at Elm Street Green, the event features softly glowing luminaries lining the path, creating a magical atmosphere perfect for a relaxing walk with family or friends.

Puzzle Swap in Zionsville

Calling all puzzle lovers! In celebration of National Puzzle Day, bring gently used puzzles to Zionsville Town Hall between January 5-28, 2026, then return on Saturday, January 31 to swap them for new ones. Last year, over 1,500 puzzles were exchanged in just two hours. There is a limit of 10 puzzles per person-visit their website for full event rules.

Shop Local at the Winter Markets

Winter is the perfect time to support local vendors, and Boone County’s winter markets make it easy. The Lebanon Winter Market kicks off and runs every Saturday, while the Whitestown Winter Market is on January 10. Both markets offer a variety of local goods, foods, and handmade items in a warm, welcoming setting.
