Celebrate the Trail: Join Discover Boone County at TrailMixer
March 31, 2026 | by Leigh Ann Akard
This April, something big is happening across Central Indiana-and Boone County is right at the center of it. Nearly 800 miles of trails are coming together under one unified network, the Greater Indy Trailways, creating new opportunities to explore, connect, and experience the region in an entirely new way. To celebrate, communities across Central Indiana are coming together for TrailMixer, a region-wide festival filled with local flavor, pop-up experiences, and community celebrations.
Discover Boone County is proud to be part of this exciting launch, and there’s no better way to experience it than by exploring one of our most beloved assets: the Big 4 Trail. Built along a former railroad corridor, the Big 4 Trail is a paved, multi-use trail that runs through Boone County, connecting communities like Zionsville, Whitestown, Lebanon, and Thorntown. It’s perfect for walkers, runners, and cyclists of all levels, offering a smooth, scenic route with a mix of small-town charm and peaceful countryside views.
What makes the Big 4 Trail especially unique is how it brings people right into the heart of our communities. Along the way, you’ll find local parks, public art, charming downtowns, and great places to stop, shop, and grab a bite. Whether you’re planning a quick afternoon walk or a longer ride between towns, the trail offers a welcoming and accessible way to explore Boone County at your own pace.
Join Discover Boone County on Saturday, April 25, 2026, from 11 AM to 2 PM at LA Cafe for appetizers, giveaways, and a fun, laid-back way to celebrate the launch of Greater Indy Trailways. LA Cafe is located near the Whitestown portion of the trail. It’s the perfect place to pause, refuel, and take in the energy of the day-especially during TrailMixer. Whether you arrive by bike, on foot, or by car, you’ll be part of a region-wide moment that highlights just how connected-and vibrant-our communities are.
So grab your friends, hop on the trail, and come see what makes Boone County a standout stop along the way.
