make it a September to Remember in Boone County

August 29, 2025 | by Leigh Ann Akard

September is one of the most exciting times of the year in Boone County, with a full lineup of festivals and events that offer something for everyone. The Zionsville Lions Club Fall Festival kicks off the season with family fun, followed by Taste of the Maze at Dull’s Tree Farm, the always-popular Back to the Fifties Festival, and the Festival of the Turning Leaves in Thorntown.

Cycling enthusiasts won’t want to miss the Harvest 50, Boone County’s signature gravel cycling event, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. Meanwhile, the 5th Annual North Indy Farm Crawl gives visitors a behind-the-scenes look at working farms across the county, offering opportunities to explore, taste, and support local growers.

Fall flavors also shine this month at farmers markets across the county, where shoppers can find fresh produce, baked goods, and handcrafted local treasures. Pair your market trip with an evening of Music on the Plaza, held on the second Friday in downtown Lebanon, where live entertainment creates the perfect backdrop for a night out under the stars.

Another September highlight is Polo at Sunset at Hickory Hall Polo Club. For more than 20 years, Friday night matches have brought the “Sport of Kings” to Indiana, blending fast-paced action with a mission of giving back. Each week, a different charitable organization is spotlighted, turning every match into a celebration of community as well as sport. Guests are also invited to join in on one of polo’s most charming traditions—the Divot Stomp—when spectators head onto the field at halftime to stomp divots, mingle, and join the fun. The season runs through the end of September, with full schedules and charitable partners available on the Hickory Hall Polo Club website.

From festivals and food to music and polo, September in Boone County is bursting with ways to celebrate the season.
