September Fun Isn’t Over Yet in Boone County!
September 17, 2026 | by Leigh Ann Akard
There’s still plenty of September left-and plenty happening around Boone County! From classic cars and circus acts to one of our favorite fall traditions, the next couple of weekends are packed with reasons to get out and explore.
A Blast from the Past | September 19
Get ready for a double dose of automotive fun at the Boone County 4-H Fairgrounds! The Back to the Fifties Festival returns September 19, bringing the sights, sounds and nostalgia of decades gone by. Classic cars, entertainment, food, vendors and plenty of family fun make this a great way to spend a Saturday.
While you’re there, don’t miss the Hoosier Model Car Contest & Swap Meet. Check out detailed model car creations, browse kits and accessories, and see just how much creativity can fit into a much smaller set of wheels!
With both events happening at the fairgrounds, car enthusiasts can make a full day of it.
Step Right Up! | September 20
Sunday brings an entirely different kind of excitement to the Witham Pavilion with Circus Spectacular!
Watch the action unfold with aerial performances, acrobatics, juggling, comedy, magic and more. Talented young performers will bring the wonder and excitement of the circus to life for an afternoon of entertainment the whole family can enjoy.
Fall Takes Over Thorntown | September 25-27
The following weekend, head to Thorntown as the Festival of the Turning Leaves fills the community with three days of fall fun.
This longtime tradition has a little bit of everything-live music, a street fair, food, a parade, kids activities, a car show, 5K/10K, cornhole, Touch-a-Truck and plenty more happening throughout the weekend.
It’s the kind of festival where you can grab something to eat, wander downtown, catch an event or two and simply enjoy the atmosphere of fall in a small Indiana town.
And Fall Fun Is Just Getting Started…
Dull’s Tree Farm Fall Festival opens for the season September 26 and runs through November 1! With more than 45 activities, including the corn maze, giant slides, farm animals, hayrides to the pumpkin patch, photo ops and plenty more, it’s one of Boone County’s favorite ways to celebrate fall.
Planning a visit? Buy your admission online in advance to take advantage of discounted ticket pricing.
And this is just a little preview-we’ll be sharing much more about all the fall fun at Dull’s as we head into October!
