After the recent devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, the community of Boone, North Carolina, finds itself facing a multifaceted crisis. Known for its natural beauty, welcoming community, festivals, and outdoor activities, this thriving tourism region has been greatly impacted by the damage from the recent hurricane.
To help Boone, NC, during this critical time, Boone County, IN, is stepping up through the Boone Hearts Boone initiative. With winter rapidly approaching in the mountainous areas of North Carolina, this campaign is focused on collecting essential winter items for those affected by the hurricane’s devastation.

HURRICANE HELENE’S IMPACT ON BOONE, NC
An AP News article detailed the impact of Hurricane Helene on Boone, NC. Boone is a town that relies on tourism, especially in the fall, to keep it’s local economy strong. AP News writes, “In the days after Helene razed much of western North Carolina, some store owners in downtown Boone have a lot of cleanup to do and don’t know if they’ll see much business at all for the foreseeable future — a critical problem for a town of about 19,000 people that relies on tourism, especially in the fall.”
