As the leaves fall, traditions rise across every Boone County community. In Jamestown, the beloved Apple Cider Festival and in Lebanon Colonial Market Days offer an old-fashioned way to welcome the season, complete with handcrafted goods, heritage demonstrations, and of course, fresh cider.
Just a short drive from Indianapolis, Indiana Fear Farm in Jamestown offers heart-pounding thrills and spine-chilling scares. Experience the excitement of a Hollywood-style Haunted Hayride and dare to enter the infamous Slaughter Barn. Every weekend in October, enjoy unforgettable live entertainment that will keep you on the edge of your seat, screaming for more!
October also brings the return of Boos & Brews—a signature event hosted by Discover Boone County. On October 18, 2025, join locals and visitors alike for a fun-filled adventure through the unique spots of Boone County, where you’ll experience the spirit of the holiday season with specialty “spirits,” lively entertainment, and festive fun all day long and into the night.
Zionsville adds its own touch of spooky charm with the annual Ghost Walk, where guided tours wind through the town’s historic streets, sharing eerie tales of the past. Just down the road, Maplelawn Farmstead transforms for the season when Fright Nights turns the historic farm into a haunted spectacle.
In Thorntown, the Heavenly Acres Fall Festival brings families out to the farm for pumpkins, games, and wide-open fun, while Lebanon offers double the Halloween excitement with the mischievous downtown celebration Mischief on Meridian and the eerie thrills of the Fright Forest at the Boone County Fairgrounds.
Throughout the month, each town hosts its own community trick-or-treat events and cozy traditions—offering the perfect blend of small-town hospitality and seasonal celebration.
