With less than 90 days until the total solar eclipse here in Boone County, it’s time to get your plans finalized! Here’s a quick guide to help you successfully Get Mooned In Boone on April 8th.

If you’re visiting from out of town, welcome! We’re excited to have you in our beautiful county for this incredible, celestial event. Given the amount of excitement around this momentous occasion, it’s important to book lodging as soon as possible. As our hotels continue to fill, check for Airbnb and Vrbo options as well!

2. Plan Where You’re Viewing the Eclipse

Whether you’re visiting or a local resident, it’s important to find a good viewing area to experience the eclipse. Luckily, there are several community organized events across our county with loads of family friendly activities. All of these events are in ideal viewing areas to ensure you have a fun, safe viewing experience. The night before the eclipse, there will also be a laser light show with Pink Droyd, a Pink Floyd tribute band!

3. Grab Your Glasses and Learn

Science is fun! This is a great opportunity to read up on what an eclipse is, fun science facts, and grab some eclipse glasses for viewing the partial eclipse before and after the total eclipse. You can read more about the eclipse here and order glasses here.

We can hear the Viking drums calling us to Viking Fest this weekend in Whitestown! Prepare yourself for Viking-themed reenactors in full garb swinging their weapons, multiple Viking villages, stage entertainment, artisans selling crafted items, food, mead, inflatables, and more!
